Unveiling Nature’s Elegance: Eco-Friendly Fashion Designer of BÉYU Blends Sustainability and Style with New Collection

In the bustling world of fashion, where trends come and go, one designer stands out for her commitment to both eco-friendliness and impeccable style. Meet Bobbie Johnson, a visionary creator who has seamlessly merged her passion for nature with her dedication to ethical and sustainable fashion through her brand BÉYU. Her latest collection Sequoia was inspired by nature’s oxymoron beauty, from giant trees with dwarf crowns to naturally structured plants and flowers. Each garment was designed to showcase how opposite styles can be stitched together to create effortless garments.

BÉYU, pronounced [bay-u] is a handmade womenswear label based out of Houston, Texas. She represents the women who are chic but eco-conscious, maintaining a sexy and sustainable lifestyle. Béyu garments are made through ethical production processes, using non-toxic, eco-friendly, and/or repurposed fabrics.

Founded in 2016 by CEO and Designer Bobbie Johnson, Bobbie started sewing as a hobby by revamping thrifted clothes and making custom garments. She believes that fashion is about making it your own. No matter how old or new, it’s about the meaning and person behind the fashion. Our designs are made to emphasize the beauty in all things simple through effortless styles and neutral colors. We symbolize beauty as perspective, loving who you are and all this planet has to offer.

Just as the tree boasts a massive trunk and a delicate crown, her designs beautifully balance coverage and exposure. The dresses captivate with front layers, mirroring the tree’s robust presence, while the exposed backs echo the tree’s intricate crown. This symbiotic relationship between nature and fashion breathes life into her creations.

To elevate her vision to new heights, Johnson employed an innovative approach to hairstyling. She accentuated models’ hair with exaggerated baby hairs, transforming them into lush bushes and delicate flowers. This whimsical touch pays homage to the beauty of floral life, creating a harmonious connection between her designs and the natural world.

At the onset of the year, Johnson resolved to host a fashion show that would perfectly embody her brand’s ethos. In pursuit of this vision, she carefully selected a garden venue that aptly reflected her eco-friendly values. The verdant surroundings served as a testament to her commitment to sustainability, creating an idyllic backdrop for her collection’s unveiling.

Beyond her artistic endeavors, Johnson aspires to create more than just fashionable garments. With a deep desire to build a fashion community in Houston, she strives to bring together like-minded individuals who share her passion for ethical clothing and sustainable practices. By fostering a space where people can connect and socialize, she aims to establish a vibrant community that supports and celebrates eco-friendly fashion.

Throughout her journey, Johnson has maintained unwavering dedication to eco-friendliness, ethics, and sustainability. Every aspect of her brand, from material selection to production processes, adheres to stringent environmental standards. By seamlessly integrating sustainability into her designs, she showcases that fashion can be both visually stunning and environmentally responsible.

Bobbie Johnson is a trailblazer in the realm of eco-friendly fashion, using her creativity and passion to merge nature-inspired designs with sustainable practices. Through her sequoia-inspired collection, she masterfully combines coverage and exposure, echoing the beauty and resilience of the natural world. By building a fashion community in Houston, she seeks to create a space where ethical clothing takes center stage, and individuals can connect, celebrate, and embrace the power of sustainable fashion. Johnson continues to redefine the fashion landscape, proving that style and sustainability can coexist harmoniously in the world of haute couture.

Skincare Advice with Kierra Lanice

Photographed by Rome Goodson

As an artist, creative, and freelance makeup artist, Kierra Lanice travels between New York, Los Angeles, and Houston with The Couture Agency, Viacom (the multimedia conglomerate that owns BET, Nickelodeon, Paramount, and MTV to name a few) and MAC Cosmetics, sharing her amazing makeup skills. There is something about her work that makes her stand above the rest: her technical knowledge. A 2012 graduate from Douglas J Aveda Institute, Kierra comes from a generation of artists. Her great grandmother was a hairstylist and makeup artist for The May Company and Warner Brothers, her grandmother a seamstress and local fashion designer, and mother with a background in cosmetology. From a young age, she always knew she wanted to be in the fashion and beauty industry. “I was always creative. I sew, paint, and sketch. In high school, I made my own clothes.” By the age of 17, Kierra landed a collaboration on set with Kingdom Dreams for a Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus look book as the hair/makeup artist. “I moved to Houston in 2014 as a transfer in through Estee Lauder. From there, I got my first gig here with Tiffany Couture, and it started rolling from there.”

Photographed by James “JD” Barnes

Kierra is professionally trained, and as such, she has shared a few of her tips and tricks to having flawless makeup. Invest in skincare products, drink lots of water, and invest in foundation and concealer. “Your makeup will only look as good as the skin underneath it. You only have one face, so invest in anything that immediately touches it.” And 5 of her favorite essential makeup items? Concealer, mascara, brow pencil, lip liner, and lipstick or lip-gloss.

Finally, her process to a good skin regimen:

1.) Cleanse- oil-based if your skin is dry, gel-type if your skin is oily.

2.) Tone- this will help balance the pH of the skin, remove excess oils and dirt, and often contain anti-inflammatory properties.

3.) Exfoliate- once or twice a week, if you’re oily.

4.) Essence- this is like a liquid boost; it helps hydrate your face and allows your serums to penetrate deeper.

5.) Serum- Essential to addressing skincare concerns i.e. hyperpigmentation, premature signs of aging, etc.

6.) Oil- essential to nourish your face.

7.) Moisturize- Your moisturizer should be more of a rich cream if your skin is dry and more of a water-based gel or “lotion” if your skin is combination/oily. This is essential to sealing the deal before bed and before applying makeup.

Photographed by Mark “Faschiony” Alvarez

Kierra always mentions that if this is a new process for you, just cleanse and moisturize, then add a toner, serum or essence, etc. as you go. Prepping your skin is key when trying to achieve a flawless makeup look. When picking your foundation shade, she advises paying close attention to the tones in your neck, chest, and even arms to ensure your foundation creates balance. A few other things she teaches in her makeup classes is product placement and blending your nose contour faintly into your eyebrows. When contouring your cheekbones, she advises making sure that the contour product of your choice is applied to start above the ears and angled down to your lips, blending upwards to lift the cheekbone. Most importantly, apply as you look straight into the mirror for symmetry. For Kierra, she finds that any makeup product or accouterment is versatile. She has found that other than the most basic rules, there really are no rules to makeup. In essence, your blush can be used as an eyeshadow, lipstick as a blush, and so on.

Makeup should be fun, but it should also compliment your natural features. It is what completes your outfit and so much more, so being aware of how to care for your skin and how to find the right foundation shade is essential. Kierra’s tips and tricks are the perfect base for anyone trying to improve their skincare and makeup routine.

Experience Royalty at Maroc Hamam Spa

Maroc Hamam Spa

Hamam is an Ottoman Bath, also known as Turkish Bath is a place of public bathing associated with the culture of the Ottoman Empire and widely popularized in the Middle East and Europe. This method of cleansing and relaxation became popular during the Victorian era, and then spread through the British Empire and Western Europe.

Founder Uzma Atif traveled to Morocco, North Africa and came back to her hometown of Dallas, Texas with a business idea. She brought the concept from the East all the way to the West, and nailed it.

Maroc Hamam Spa is the premier spa in the Dallas area. Through a unique combination of offered services and products, they are quickly gaining attention for their luxurious services but at the fraction of the cost. Maroc is in the business to pamper its female clients. Maroc provides customers with a relaxing, rejuvenating atmosphere where all of their mind and body needs can be met. The entire experience will leave you feeling like a whole woman. Balancing the physical, sensorial, and emotional responses that contribute to overall health and wellness. Maroc offers modern day treatments inspired by ancient rituals.

With vibrant colors that meets the eye as you walk, highly trained estheticians and spa technicians greet you upon entering and guide you through the process. From a steam room that emits hot steam every 30 seconds, (just that experience does the job, leaving your skin feeling hydrated and smooth) followed by the full body experience in the Hamam room. Where the technician lathers you up with Maroc’s special hydrating blend, followed by a full body scrub with the kessa glove from head to toe until your skin glows. The Hamam’s hot steam opens the skin pores releasing toxins, bacteria and other impurities making it ready for the deep exfoliation.

The finale of the entire process is the icing on the cake, but instead of icing, you get covered in bubbles!  The technician lays you on a slab of marble after being scrubbed entirely, covers your entire body with bubbles as water comes pouring from the ceiling to wash everything away. The most amazing, exhilarating and enthralling experience a girl can even imagine.

Where royalty meets an urban sanctuary, Maroc Hamam Spa truly outdid itself. Even Queens couldn’t imagine an experience this regal. If you want to fall in love with your skin again and feel like royalty during the process, Maroc Hamam Spa is a must in your life.

New Beauty Launches And What You Really Need!

Source: www.shemagazinepk.com

Spring is here! Which means there are going to be a ton of beauty products releasing. Let’s take a look at what released this month and if you REALLY need it.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eye Shadow Palette

screen-shot-2018-02-18-at-3-13-03-pm

A treat for the girls who love their neutrals and are looking for a palette that well, is all about that soft-glam life! The palette was designed keeping the brides in mind and has the tendency to create everyday neutral looks to the smokiest of the smokey eyes!

Final Verdict: If you’re looking for a great neutral palette then YES! But if you already own an array of neutral palettes, skip it!

Benefit Bad Gal Bang Mascara

mascaraThe classic Bad Gal Mascara revamped to beat all the other mascaras, YES! The new Bad Gal Bang Mascara in its gravity-defying formula contains aero-particles, which are one of the lightest known materials, derived from space technology… I mean wow! The mascara is ideal to build volume and length simultaneously.

Final Verdict: If you don’t mind spending $24 on mascara then it’s the best mascara out there but if you like sticking to drugstore mascaras, skip it or try the travel size for $12!

Anastasia Beverly Hills X Amrezy Highlighter

amrezy-highlighter

Okay, apart from the fact that Amrezy is a gorge bomb, her highlighter is one of the smoothest formulas we’ve ever felt! It’s a powder formula but with zero fall-out, no matter how hard you dig your finger or your brush into it, there will be no fall out. The highlighter itself is really smooth and doesn’t enhance pores or texture on your skin.

Final Verdict: GET IT! Get it right now, the formula is beautiful, the colour will suit an array of skintones and the glow on it, is no joke.

LA Pro Matte Foundation

la-pro-mate-foundation

Remember how the initial version had great coverage but was really dewy? However, our oily girls don’t need to worry anymore because LA pro just released their matte version for the same foundation and it is legit one of the best foundations we’ve tried! Its medium to full coverage, layers pretty well, has a natural matte finish, lasts all day and is just $10!

Final Verdict: If you have oily skin and are looking for an affordable long lasting finish that stays matte throughout the day then get it! However, if you have dry skin, skip it!

One Red Lipstick For All?

Source: www.shemagazinepk.com

Your perfect red can be hard and daunting to find, but Rihanna’s got your back! Fenty Beauty recently launched their first liquid lipstick and the shade is a gorgeous vermillion red promising a soft matte finish.

What’s the big deal? Well, the shade is inclusive of all skin tones and it looks different on every skintone, from the palest white to the deepest mahogany, Stunna Lip is the perfect red! And the packaging does look like an objet d’art – chic, practical and stunning overall. And the uniquely shaped wand cuts out the need for lip liner by allowing you to line the lips effortlessly and then fill them in.

We recommend not sleeping on it because it’s selling like hot cakes!
