London is clean and smart in terms of fashion, but the locals know how to go shake things up. They have been leading the way for centuries, and this year for fashion week, they really set the standards high for future shows. Some of their Spring/Summer 2020 trends were synonymous to New York’s, but they added a few to the pot that were hard to not notice.

Pattern Mixing

Pattern mixing is for the bold and the brave. Sure, some prints are neutral but looks from Erdem, Ports 1961, and Kiko Kostadinov steered clear from neutral. The colors were cohesive, and the prints worked well together, although they were very distinct.

Plaid and Checks

Plaid comes in so many different styles, but the different variations were all over London Fashion Week. Awake featured a draped plaid dress show-stopping asymmetrical dress. Burberry, of course, kept it classic with black and white.  Natasha Zinko went a bit moodier and more muted with the purples.

Animal Prints

Animal prints are always a great addition to any collection. David Koma kept it very simple with just the right amount of zebra. Halpern added just the right amount of bling and bits of color to their cheetah print dress. Mark Fast gave a sleek purple variation to their snake print jacket.

Lavender

Pastel colors are a staple for Spring and Summer and several designers used lavender to create some interesting looks for the seasons. Marta Jakubowski created a clean column dress that was quite modern and sophisticated. Preen’s lace dress was quite romantic with the muted lavender, lace fabric. Roksanda came in with a statement dress that was finished off with a green turtle neck.

Oversized tops

Oversized tops and dresses are quite versatile, as they can be paired with pants, a skirt, or nothing at all if you’re feeling creative. Collections like   Fyodor Golan, Marques Almeida, and Roland Mouret gave these big proportions a new meaning.
