The punk revival seems to be making a comeback in a major way. During fashion week designers such as Alexander Wang, Marine Serre & Prada made their impressions felt on the runway with an unrelenting show of force. The collaboration of futuristic dystopia infused with patterned neo punk. It may be rooted in the tumultuous time we live in or simply an era for a resistant style. Either way I am in love with what fall 2019 had to offer.
Alexander Wang a rebel in his own right after releasing is 2018 spring collection three months before the American industry. Following up with the fall collection was paired with Versace and Chanel. Giving the line a new nuanced chic juxtaposed to an edgy unapologetic attitude.
Marine Serre taking it to a completely new level peering at the unfortunate future society in 2025 with a scavenged play on imagery tantalizing extreme tribalism with traditional undertones. An atmosphere of toxicity forcing life to the underground dwelling. Facemasks and plaid jackets send bold statements of the old punk era with newer contemporary climate concerns. Designs spurring a visionary alarmist reactionary spirit to the line.
