Houston, TX — September 25, 2025 — The Makeup Show made a happy return to Houston, Texas, for the first time since 2021. So much has changed for the show and the beauty industry in the last few years, but the kindness and warmth of the community made it feel like coming home.
In the lavish ballroom of the Hilton Houston Post Oak Hotel, the atmosphere buzzed with energy and creativity. Local, indie, prestige, sustainable, vegan, and women/queer/BIPOC-owned brands lined the show floor, offering thousands of products across makeup, skincare, haircare, and tools. Each booth told a story—from Danessa Myricks Beauty, a powerhouse brand born from a self-taught artist’s vision ten years ago, now a global sensation, to AppleDoll, a clean and cruelty-free line championing unique beauty and ethical products for a new generation.
Beyond Products: A Space for Connection

While lip liners, brushes, and palettes can easily be purchased online, what makes The Makeup Show so distinct is its spirit. It is not just about the transaction—it is about transformation. The event creates a space of unknowing, learning, openness, and human connection, reminding us why artistry thrives in community.
Attendees this year—ranging from brand owners and educators to students, estheticians, and beauty lovers—immersed themselves in conversations shaping the future of beauty. Over the course of the weekend, September 20–21, guests accessed exclusive products unavailable in stores and explored groundbreaking artistry across special effects, bridal, editorial, airbrush, and more.
Across four seminar and demo stages, brand representatives and artists showcased techniques and tools while offering candid insights into the balance between business and artistry. Every session was more than just a lesson—it was an invitation to reimagine beauty as impact.

Main Stage Magic
The highlight of the event was, without question, the Main Stage. The crowd’s anticipation was palpable as celebrity artists Sheika Daley, James Molloy, Danessa Myricks, and an inspiring panel featuring James Vincent, Joe Dulude II, Jake Aebly, Ashunta Sheriff-Kendricks, and Melanie Mills took the spotlight. Their words and artistry carried the audience beyond trends, into a world where beauty intersects with identity, empowerment, and resilience.

Who is Danessa Myricks?
Danessa Myricks is one of the most influential voices in today’s beauty industry. A self-taught makeup artist, photographer, and entrepreneur, she built her career from the ground up with an unshakable belief that beauty is for everyone.
After beginning her professional journey in education and corporate training, she transitioned into the world of beauty—bringing with her a passion for inclusivity and a vision to celebrate all skin tones, genders, and identities.
Her brand, Danessa Myricks Beauty, has become a global sensation, known for its innovative, multi-use products that empower artists and consumers alike to experiment, create, and redefine beauty on their own terms.
Beyond product development, Myricks is also a mentor, educator, and inspiration for countless makeup artists worldwide. She is more than a brand founder—she is a trailblazer who has redefined what artistry, inclusivity, and empowerment look like in the modern beauty landscape.
SHE Magazine USA in Conversation with Danessa Myricks
For SHE Magazine USA, the event was especially meaningful. As a proud media partner, our Editor-in-Chief, Beena Yusuf, had the honor of interviewing Danessa Myricks herself. The conversation transcended beauty talk—it was a heartfelt dialogue about resilience, transformation, and the healing power of artistry.
“There were tears shared,” Beena recalls, “because makeup is more than aesthetic—it heals us from within. It allows us to face the world not just with confidence, but with grace, courage, and strength.”
The SHE team walked away deeply inspired, grateful for the opportunity to connect with Myricks and honored to spotlight her story within our community.

A Weekend That Will Be Remembered
As the lights dimmed and the weekend concluded, The Makeup Show left Houston not just with bags of products, but with hearts full of connection, empowerment, and artistry. For Houston’s beauty community—and for SHE Magazine USA—the return of this iconic event was more than just a show. It was a homecoming, a celebration, and a reminder that beauty is never just skin-deep.
