We all read what Virgil Abloh, founder of Off-White and artistic director for menswear at Louis Vuitton, said about how streetwear is “definitely” going to die and that “its time will be up” in 2020. Perhaps he’s right. How many more t-shirts, hoodies, and sneakers can you own? The connotation of this idea is probably staggering, considering Abloh is one of the major forces of streetwear. But it’s 2020 now, so what will be trending? Are the roaring 20s making a modern comeback? Are the untethered 70s slowly grasping our attention? Well, let’s see what fashion stylists and designers are hinting at for this upcoming year and how the Pantone Color of the year, Classic Blue, will affect your outfits.

Polka Dots

Leopard print is so last decade, so make room for the new new, polka dots. Carolina Herrera, Elie Tahari, and Tory Burch all encapsulated the print in a fresh and flirty way.

Saffron

Bold and fun, saffron (or marigold as dubbed by many) is making a statement this year with different fabrics and silhouettes synonymous to those of the 30s. Christian Siriano, Proenza Schouler, and Pyer Moss each designed a column dress from our dreams.

Suits

Both deconstructed and two-piece, suits are here to stay. Embellished and wrapped, these suits by Chloe, Area, and The Attico are giving us yet another reason to keep our suits.

Fringe

It wouldn’t be the 20’s without fringe. Area, Christian Siriano, and Oscar de la Renta gave their interpretations of the Jazz Age.

Micro Minis with Boots

The works of Mary Quant have returned to remind us of the 60s youth culture and the freedom all women deserve. Fendi, Gucci, and Valentino surely went back to their archives for these sophisticated takes on the mini skirt/boot combo.

Boho

Psychedelic prints and groovy colors are remastered in suits and dresses. Dundas, Missoni, and Simon Miller are giving us eclectic love, simply add platforms as needed.
