Meet Beena Yusuf of B.Poshi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beena Yusuf.

Beena’s dream started in Dubai, while she was employed with the U.S. Department of State at the U.S. Consulate-General of Dubai; Beena knew she was destined to bring her creativity onto the runway and be a force to empower others to create movements with a purpose-it was then when her husband motivated and encouraged her to bring her sketches to life and to do what she was truly meant to do in this life-to Inspire! Beena interlaced her designs with a deep sense of luxury and glamour mingled with a touch of modern aesthetic.

Today she has royal family clients and celeb clients in the states. She wanted women to embrace their inner and outer beauty. Once you wear A B.Poshi Cape, you are transformed into Royalty. Beena wanted to create something that was modern, hip and something that would appeal to the women of today. She then blended not just two, but three cultures together.

American, Pakistani and Arabic and created beautiful, long, flowing capes, that can be worn with a trusty pair of jeans or a beautiful cocktail dress. Her influence comes from her diverse and multicultural upbringing – where South Asia meets the Middle East, with a dash of the West & a whole lot of glam. Hence, the birth of her brand…. B.Poshi.

Has it been a smooth road?
Fashion was an entirely new world for me, having a degree in Psychology, working as a prison counselor, counseling inmates early in my career, then moving to Dubai and working for the Government; you can imagine fashion was an entire 360 from what my normal day consisted of.

The hardest part was quitting my job with the US Department of State and diving into the unknown, but ever since I did, I never looked back. Struggles were just a part of the journey. I would not be here today if I did not struggle to manifest my dream.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with B.Poshi by Beena Yusuf – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I design Middle Eastern Couture, something no one really ever explored. Being an American with Pakistani heritage and being exposed to the Middle Eastern culture, I took advantage of all those backgrounds and created designs that represent each aspect of the culture I was fortunate to be a part of.

My first client was a royal family member in Dubai, an actual Queen! So the premise in designing all my creations is always, “What would a Queen wear?”

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Houston! We represent culture, art, diversity and of course, the best food!! What I least like about Houston, it’s a 16-hour flight to Dubai!!
